OUR PROJECTS2016 Kabilash, Nepal project team.
CURRENT PROJECTSAs we start our new organization we are in the planning stages for our first two projects. We have funded these projects on our own - from contributions from our board Members, Rick, Madhav and Bob. We believe in what we are doing and our passion is backed-up by contributions made by each of our Board Members. As we await IRS approval on our 501(c)(3) filing, we are planning for our fist fundraising event. In the mean time, here are details on our first two projects.
Cuba 2018We will make our first visit to Cuba in February 2018, joining a group from Exiter, NH. The group has been making visits to Cuba for 25 years and they have invited us to join their next trip. We will offer our experience and expertise in water testing, water treatment and GPS mapping. This project will cost $3,000: airfare (1 team member), room, board, in-country transportation, a water test kit, a multi-stage inline water filter, filter cartridges and labor. We will visit several communities where water filters have been installed. We will collect GPS poi nts and water sample data and we will replace filter cartridges. We will also install one new water filter system. READ MORE...
Nepal 2018We will make our third visit to the Nuwakot District of Nepal in October 2018. After the success of our project last year, working through Water For Small Villages Inc, we provided water to the 1,000 residents of Aapchour. The people then went down river and helped the people in the next village of Dhokare Bari. We will work with the people of Dhokare Bari to assess their water issues, repair the broken water pump and water tank to provide water to the people in the village. This project will cost $11,000 for: airfare (3 team members), room, board, in- country transportation, a water test kit, 400 meters of HDPE water pipe, material to build a 1,500 gallon water storage tank and labor. PROJECTS BEING CONSIDEREDWe always have a list of projects being considered. Our Water Team proposes future project ideas and other people recommend or request projects for us to consider. We have a method for assessing projects for consideration and a 5 step process for developing our projects. When projects are ready, we start our fundraising for the project and then it gets done. Read more on how to suggest a project or read more about our project selection methodology.
