Haiti 2009 - 2015
From 2009-2015 we worked in several areas in Haiti. Rick and his son Eric made their first trip to Haiti in 2009 along with friends from their church. They assessed the water situation in a small village named Verrettes, about 3 hours North of Port-au-Prince. They toured the city of Port-au-Prince, visited with a Haitian family and were inspired to help the community in Verrettes. Rick, his wife Cordella and their friend Steve teamed up to oversee installation of a new well for the community of Verrettes. They shipped a donated water pump, solar panels and pipe to Haiti and hired a well drilling crew. Working with the community, they completed the project and installed sinks in the one-room schoolhouse in Verrettes. This project lead to the establishment of Water For Small Villages Inc (WFSV), a non-profit co-founded by Rick, Steve and Aimond, their friend from Haiti. After the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, Rick, Steve and Aimond returned to test water and assess drinking water conditions across Haiti. They partnered with the non-profit group The South Florida Haiti Project and took on a large water project for the community of Bondeau, Haiti. After working in Haiti for 6 years Rick and Cordella initiated a project in Nepal with his friend Madhav. Similar to Haiti, Nepal suffered from a massive earthquake in 2015. WFSV approved 2 projects in Nepal and then Rick teamed up with Madhav and their friend Bob Brown to start the Clean Drinking Water Team Inc.2009 VERRETTES, HAITI
